Said in a statement on July 13 that Apple will launch a $ 300 million clean energy project in China, in cooperation with its suppliers to invest in renewable energy projects that could reach nearly one million homes in the country.
The Chinese government has made pollution reduction a major priority, putting pressure on domestic and international companies to help reduce smog levels in major cities and clean the country's waterways and polluted soils.
The investment comes from iPhone, which will be made with 10 suppliers, including Pegatron and Wistron, over four years, as the United States and China struggle to trade.
Earlier this year, Apple CEO Tim Cook called for a truce between presidents in Washington and Beijing as the world's two largest economies moved into a trade war and exchanged tariffs on billions of dollars of goods.
The American company manufactures most of its products in China, which are shipped all over the world, including to the United States. China is also one of the most important end markets for Apple, although it has faced a rising challenge from local smartphone competitors.
Apple is taking a broader step in renewable energy. Earlier this year, said its global facilities were now fully subsidized by clean energy.
